Sundays 9:00am Full liturgical worship with musical accompaniment, scripture readings, pastoral sermon, and celebrating holy communion weekly. We use a variety of liturgies, ranging from the traditional service book & hymnal with organ accompaniment to
contemporary and folk liturgies with keyboard, guitar, and vocal ensemble.
Thursdays 5:30pm Simple. Straightforward. Word and Sacrament. An informal gathering in the Lounge with Pastor Del to take a look at the Scripture readings for the week and share open reflection/discussion on them and how they speak to our lives today, followed
by holy communion shared in an intimate setting.
Lenten Wednesdays Beginning with Ash Wednesday, Zion offers special mid-week worship services during the season of Lent. Services are each Wednesday at 10:00am in the Chapel using a meditative Service of the Word liturgy;
and at 7:00pm in the Sanctuary using the reflective, musical Holden Evening Prayer service.
Advent Wednesdays Likewise, for the typically three Wednesdays during the season of Advent, Zion holds mid-week worship services during the season of Advent, gathering at 7:00pm the Sanctuary using the Holden Evening Prayer service.
Weddings at Zion Possibly the most delightful form of worship – the witnessing of two people joined together in love and commitment, with Christ at the center! Zion has two pastors who are available, as schedules allow, to officiate weddings held in the
beautiful sanctuary, the intimate chapel, or at other venues. If you are interested in looking into having a wedding at Zion,
please feel free to contact Beth or Betty in the Zion office (322-3533) or e-mail us at zionlutheranchurch@mchsi.com

Music & the Arts
Childrens’ Choir & Chimes Zion offers two vocal choirs for children: the Cherubs, for children 3 years through 1st grade, an opportunity to begin learning voice control, following
musical direction, and short, easy songs that deepen their head-and-heart
understanding of God’s love for them! The Cherubs sing for worship services along
with Zion’s older elementary-aged Chapel choir several times between September
and May, and a few times on their own to build their confidence. Chapel choir is comprised of children in 2nd through 5th grades, who are learning vocal music at the “next” level, and who also have the opportunity to play
HandChimes which serve as accompaniment to the songs they sing during worship
services. Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 6:15pm. Cherubs & Chapel choir children
are also invited to stay after choir rehearsal for our “Alleluia!” worship education
activities – detailed in the “Learning” page of this website – check it out. Cherub & Chapel choirs are under the direction of Rosie Bates (contact through
Zion 322-3533 -or- e-mail: bates2855@mchsi.com)
Worship Ensemble provides worship leadership through contemporary instrumentation and arrangements of both new and old songs and hymns. Musical leadership includes keyboard, guitar, vocals, and a variety of percussion/rhythm instruments. The
Ensemble welcomes ALL who want to share your musical gifts to the glory of God!
Rehearsals are weekly on Thursdays at 5:30pm. The Ensemble is self-directed,
under the leadership of Kris Preston (prestondk@netins.net)
Adult Choir For those 9th grade and older, Zion’s Adult Choir provides traditional anthems/special music for Sunday worship services with organ or piano accompaniment and two- to
four-part harmonies. The choir rehearses every Thursday (Sept.-May) at 6:30pm, under
the direction of Dr. Keith Haan. Although regular attendance at rehearsals is
encouraged and helpful, singers are invited to be a part of Adult choir as schedules
allow. Interested? Contact Dr. Haan (keith.haan@mchsi.com)
